Agentic ecosystems

Agents matter to Frontier Marketing when they form connected capability, not when they accumulate as separate experiments.

Definition

An agentic ecosystem is a connected set of AI agents, data and workflows that together form organisational capability rather than isolated experiments.

Four distinct things

A standalone AI tool

A standalone AI tool performs one bounded task on request — generating a draft, classifying a record, transcribing a call. It holds no durable context about the organisation and its output must be carried elsewhere by a person.

An AI assistant

An assistant responds conversationally across several tasks and may retain context within a session. It still acts when asked, and a human decides what happens next.

An AI agent

An agent pursues a stated goal over multiple steps, selects and uses tools, and can take actions within defined limits. Agents differ from assistants in that they carry a task forward rather than answering a turn. Their reliability depends on the clarity of the goal, the quality of the data and the boundaries imposed on them; autonomy in practice is partial and supervised.

An agentic ecosystem

An agentic ecosystem is several agents sharing definitions, data and outputs under common governance, so that what one agent learns or produces is available to the others. Frontier Marketing's proposition is that organisational advantage comes from the ecosystem, not from any individual agent.

The Frontier Marketing principle

Agents should be designed as connected organisational capability rather than as isolated AI experiments. An ecosystem requires shared entity definitions, shared access to first-party data, explicit permitted actions, human review where consequences are material, and a record of what each agent has done. Without these, adding agents adds fragmentation.

Agents are also market participants. An organisation that is not retrievable cannot be represented accurately by an agent acting on a buyer's behalf.

Examples

Gotoclient, the organisation founded by Jordi Marca, develops experimental agents that serve as practical application contexts for these ideas. Each is described below only as its own public website presents it; follow the links for the authoritative description.

  • GEOrgina

An experimental agent in the Generative Engine Optimisation area. See georgina.app for its current described functionality.

  • VALUEntina

An experimental agent in the value proposition area. See valuentina.app for its current described functionality.

  • BOARDette

An experimental agent published at boardette.app. See the site for its current described functionality.

  • INKgrid

An experimental agent published at inkgrid.dev. See the site for its current described functionality.

These examples are listed as application context. Frontier Marketing is documented independently of any particular tool.
